Geographic Range
The Eastern Mole is
found from southeastern Wyoming, South Dakota, and central
Texas east to Michigan, Massachusetts, and New England,
south to the tip of Florida,
and north to Ontario. Small
relict populations are found in southwestern Texas and in
northwestern Mexico.
The home range of the males is approximately 1 acre, and the female home range is considerably smaller. The tunnels are either surface runways approximately 1-4 inches deep and are used for feeding or deep permanent passages 4 - 15 inches deep used for living quarters. Moles do not hibernate and are active year round.
